  • Mutations after the event are not the reasons species survive, its the gradual mutation prior to the sudden event and the gradual adaption of species to the area the live in. Fate and luck also play a big part in the survival of species If the above is true then below is false

  • Mutations occur spontaneously and are not necessarily due to some environmental change. At any given time, a population has genetic diversity wherein a mutant gene in one population is not obvious but in another it is depending on the environment. Sickle cell anemia is a good case.

  • Environmental changes don't cause mutations ( except for toxins like chemicals, radiation, etc.) The mutation happens first, regardless of the environment. If that specific mutation helps the organism survive better that genetic based characteristic gets passed on to it's offspring.
